a. Performs database administration and configuration management functions to include the following duties: Installing and upgrading the Oracle DBMS and all its associated products to include applications tools. Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system. Creating primary database storage structures (table spaces) Creating primary objects (tables, views, indexes) once application developers have designed an application. Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by the application developers. Implementing and maintaining database security. Ensuring compliance with Oracle License agreement. Controlling and monitoring user access to the database. Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database. Planning for backup and recovery (Control Files, Redo Logs, Rollback Segments, System Data Files, etc) of database information. Maintaining archived data on tape. Backing up and restoring the database (On line and Complete). Contacting Oracle corporation for technical assistance. Perform set up, troubleshooting and maintenance of replication. Complete Software Readiness Review Checklists (Take Action As Required). Tuning the database for optimal performance Liaising with database Worldwide Customer Support to deal with technical issues requiring Oracle's intervention. Staying current with Oracle's emerging product line and with new additions that may complement your existing applications.
Job Description
The Database Administrator (DBA) performs many related database functions across one or more teams or clients, including designing, implementing and maintaining new databases, backup/recovery, and configuration management. Candidate will be responsible for providing input for modification of procedures and updating documentation used for problem resolution and day-to-day maintenance.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Focus on addressing day-to-day management, support, and troubleshooting activities of the team
- Provide database administration support, oversee environment management, monitor database health (e.g., proactive and reactive responses), resource planning, perform database upgrades and patching, provide backup/recovery, and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements
- Develop and manage daily operational procedures
- Provide Production database support based on team coverage and pager duty responsibilities
Basic Qualifications
The Database Administrator position will require an understanding of Oracle/Sun Solaris (9, 10 or 11) technologies.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Minimum
Qualifications:
o Must have an active Top Secret clearance
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field and 5 years' experience; or 1 year of graduate education and 3 years' experience; or 9 years related experience.
o ALL positions require Sec
certification with 90 days of start to be 8570 compliant.
Typical Minimums
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 6 years of professional experience; or 4 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.
