This is an office based position at the Maryland Health Plan in Hanover, MD. The Outreach Specialist must be flexible to attend evening community outreach events in Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Montgomery County and Prince Georges County.
Provides initial contact between Disease Management Program and specific identified members. Under direct supervision, conducts outbound motivational calls to eligible members to provide information regarding program benefits. _Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:_
Conducts disease management survey via telephone and gathers appropriate member information.
Persuades members to participate in the Disease Management Program by providing information about the program, outlining member benefits and explaining available services.
Handles inbound calls as needed.
Records call details and adjusts call scripts as needed based on client requirements.
Directs member inquiries to appropriate Health Coach or Nurse Health Coaches.
Job Qualifications
Requires high school diploma or the equivalent; minimum of 6 months experience in a telesales or phone role demonstrating ability to influence customers/members; or any combination of education/experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Bilingual Spanish required.
Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Knowledge of Access and/or Facets a plus
Ability to follow defined policies and protocols required.
Knowledge of medicaid/managed care company products, services and benefits preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, claims, billing, coding a plus.
